There's only two things I hate in this world.

People who are intolerant of other people's cultures…

and the Dutch.

Don't bother getting the footballs out, Johnny son, you won't be needing them.

I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt
Remember him clearly as a centre back for Everton
Almost 100 caps for NL
Certainly more pedigree than Nevin

I just hope he hasn't been enticed by a promise that Moyes is staying beyond this season

Re: John Heitinga
Let go by Ajax because they wanted a more experienced manager - he can’t really be blamed for that. He did OK in the 20-odd games he managed them for. Let’s face it, if he had done amazingly well, he’d still be there and he certainly wouldn’t have been looking to become Moyes #2.

Seems like a decent appointment as assistant, albeit he lacks some experience.

The only thing that worries me is that he’s yet another defensively-minded coach. That was something that contributed to Ajax not retaining him.

But I guess that’s why Moyes liked the cut of his jib.

"What was he doing at Everton"?
He played as a defender under Moyes for 4 years. He wasn't involved in coaching or even cleaning the khazis probably.

Re: John Heitinga
What does anyone really know about this bloke? Good with Ajax? What was he doing at Everton cleaning Moyes skidmarks in the khazi? Let's hope he doesn't forget to bring his Ajax with him if he's going to do similar here.

Duke.
No you pratt.
I've based it on the 5 games they have played.
Winning 4 and playing well.
4 without Robson.
He was out of his depth last year.

Re: Mark Robson Off To Wolves
Fair play to Mark, done a good job

Doubtless soon to followed by some of the promising youth that he will know well and they will know never get a crack under Moyes

The exodus must surely ring bells somewhere?

Don’t argue with Daveyg, his football knowledge is legendary 🤣

Re: John Heitinga
Mark Robson was in charge for one game for the U23’s this season, and you’ve based your judgement on that one game?

Re: John Heitinga
Perhaps. But don't forget that we had Mark Warburton last season and he'd been a manager recently too. Nolan's managed more games than you'd think as well.

Re: John Heitinga
Mark Robson Promoted for making the U21's play worse and lose. Couldn't work how to use the youth Cup Winners. Now he's left they've won 4 out 4. Attacking football returned.
This makes sense to join up with Moyes as he won't know how to use them either.

Re: John Heitinga
I’m with BJB and think this is our future manager, the way to go with a conveyor belt for future appointments, also something to look forward to as being ex Ajax his style of football will be rather different to Moyes.

Played under Moyes at Everton. Apparently, we agreed a fee to buy him in 2014 but he turned us down.

Seeing as they ripped off the West Ham way it's only fair we get their players and ex coaching staff......

Re: John Heitinga
Mark Robson's also been promoted from the U21s, plus another bloke Henry Newman who previously worked on opposition analysis and match preparation.

Heitinga got given a poisoned chalice when he got promoted to head coach at Ajax. Apparently he didn't want the job in the first place, saying he wasn't ready for it, and he had to be persuaded to take it. He took them from 5th place in January to finish 3rd but that wasn't enough to keep the job, so he was bound to have to leave the club. Not sure if he's even interested in a future career in management. I don't think he likes the media side of things particularly. So maybe asst. manager is the level he wants to stay at.

Re: John Heitinga
Think you're reading a bit too much into that, BJB.

A Moyes appointment because they've worked together previously, I reckon.
